Desmond mudryk
Dez Mudryk is a seasoned farmer turned therapist from a small farming community in North Eastern Alberta. With a Master of Counselling degree, he brings a unique blend of practical wisdom and professional expertise to the counselling room. Having spent most of his life tilling the soil and weathering the challenges of agriculture, Dez intimately understands the stressors faced by farmers and those in the agricultural field. Dez’s journey began in the fertile fields of rural Alberta, where he cultivated crops and raising over 500 head of various forms of livestock. Growing up he witnessed family members and neighbors under tremendous stress and at times contemplated suicide due to the overwhelming stress.
After 20 years of trying to get ahead farming, Dez went on to pursue a career as a welder in the oilfield and then later went back to school to become a psychotherapist. He has been doing therapy for a decade now and his personal experiences and witnessing the pain of others fuel his passion for helping others navigate life’s complexities. Furthermore being married for over 20 years and having a family with five daughters in a blended family, Dez knows firsthand the intricacies of family dynamics, communication, and moving towards each other rather than further away.
Dez’s therapeutic approach is grounded mainly in Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy. IFS recognizes that within each person exists a constellation of subpersonalities, each with its own voice and role. By exploring these inner parts, Dez helps clients uncover the roots of their struggles—whether it’s communication barriers, unresolved trauma, or self-limiting beliefs. As well he will also utilize EFT for couples and EMDR primarily for PTSD.
